The House of Rising Sun

Assemblage with acrylics on canvas
25x16x2in

This artwork is playfully based on the song The House of The Rising Sun (made famous by The Animals) where the lyrics start with: “There is a house down in New Orleans they call the rising sun…”

But at the same time here, there is also a reference to Japan - which is called ‘The Land Of The rising Sun’.
The Japanese culture is expressed in the structure of this artwork: samurais, swords, metal & wood, formality and manners. The painting at the center is about a day that is beginning, bringing us hope.
