Title: [Thanks, McLuhan!]

The Web as a ship in the ocean of mankind

This work of art was created with elements from Amazon.com’s standard boxes and ready cut shapes of wood.

I used Amazon.com as symbol in our culture, and not as international brand advertising.

While this may be taken for granted today, Amazon was the first online book store and one of the first online novelties in the late 90s.

Different people and cultures were connected through the selling of books, making it possible for
a person in Argentina to buy a book from Finland and vice versa.

The concept behind this functional structure is important -- we now have more choices and much more
freedom for information exchange.

Through the web, through the ocean - we are all connected.

And thanks to (Marshall) McLuhan who brought us the idea of the Global Village as possible...
